Severo Pérez, our visiting writer/director/co-producer, has made available a copy of his film, ...and the Earth Did Not Swallow Him. It will be on reserve as soon as possible.

The Brothers García, an all-Latino children's TV show, has been showing since July on Nickelodeon 2 every Sunday at 8pm. The show, a comedy, is set in San Antonio. The Brothers García focuses on three Chicano brothers, with John Leguizamo as the narrator, now grown-up, reminiscening about his childhood when the García brothers were youngsters. The show is produced by Jeff Valdez, perhaps the most creative Latino TV producer.

Course Description

Comparative, analytical, and critical perspectives on Chicano/Latino cinema in a broad framework. A study of the Chicano/Latino in American Chicano/Latino-oriented films and in Chicano/Latino films made in the U.S. by Chicano/Latino filmmakers. (This course satisfies upper division ethnic studies in GE, Category CI.)

In the Time of the Butterflies. Showtime, Sunday, Oct.21. Based on an acclaimed novel by Julia Alvarez, this original Showtime film will be repeated several times. Also note Showtime's Latino Filmmakers Showcase.

The Sundance Channel also has a number of Latino Americano and U.S. Latino films in their Arte Latino festival.
